I’ve now watched this on iPlayer. You have caught all the major segments well so this really is a great review of the content for anybody still to see it.

One of the downsides of video documentaries like this is that a few months from now it will likely be impossible to see for anyone interested in the subject. I think reviews like this are important for keeping video works accessible to a degree: people unable to watch the video when studying Petrie will at least have your detailed review.

I can’t comment however without a praising Chris Naughton. If this is the future of documentaries about Egypt I am all for it.

Excellent review of a documentary I have not yet seen, but feel I need to now! Petrie was such an influence on the many well known and not so well known Egyptologists of his day, its refreshing to see that a documentary has showcased so effectively his talents!
